BeliEVE in a flashback: Two years ago today…

Posted By Amanda • Posted on 09 May 2013 • 0 Comments

Two years ago today WWE still had Eve Torres and Kelly Kelly. The two besties teamed up to take on The Bella Twins. After Kelly and Eve caught The Bella twins trying to switch up, Kelly rolled up one for the win. Eve and Kelly celebrate in the ring. Is the night over yet? Nope. Kharma’s music hits, Bella’s flee the ring. What does Kelly and Eve do? Well a scared Kelly leaves her best friend, while Eve sticks up for herself. She tries to attack Kharma but the very scary Kharma is to fast for Eve. Let’s remember that Eve is the ONLY diva who didn’t run for Khrama. Things may not have went well for Eve, but she didn’t run. You can check out the photos and video.

BeliEVE in a flashback: Battle of the dancers!

Posted By Amanda • Posted on 02 May 2013 • 0 Comments

As some of yous may know, Eve was one of the best dancers WWE had to offer. She competed in two two competetions in which both she won. The first one was against Layla and the second she teamed up with R-truth to win against Ted Dibiase and Maryse. If you still keep up with Raw, you know they had a dance competition this past week. It was Summer Rae and Fandango vs Khali and Natayla. So today we take a look at Eve’s dance competetion with R-truth.

Gallery Update: Eve and Rener bring Women Empowerment to US Air Force

Posted By Amanda • Posted on 27 Apr 2013 • 0 Comments

Last week I went with Rener Gracie, Alex Ueda, and Jennifer Gray to snowy Minot, North Dakota to teach a one-week Women Empowered instructor certification course for 100 women and men on the US Air Force base in Minot. The Xerxes blizzard tried to stop us, but it was no match for our determination to get to the Minot Air Force Base and empower!

Due to the dramatic increase in reports of sexual assault in the military, the Air Force is embarking on a meaningful campaign to put an end to sexual assault among the ranks. We were honored to help contribute to this movement by sharing the Women Empowered self-defense techniques and principles with members of our military.

Organized by Capt. Ty Bess, the course was a blazing success! The women and men in the course were determined to get through the curriculum, and it was inspiring to watch them learn and help one another along the way. They will now be fine tuning their knowledge, and sharing it with other women on the base! Hats off to all the amazing graduates!

Check out the news coverage of the story here.

On top of 40+ hours of jiu-jitsu instructor training, Rener and I had the opportunity to do some super fun activities such as getting attacked by K-9 dogs, flying a top secret B-52 simulator, and of course, watching our friend Alex get tasered! (Video coming soon!)

Check out the photos from this amazing week!

Llero online interview

Posted By Amanda • Posted on 24 Apr 2013 • 0 Comments

It’s that time of year, when the fanboy in many of us emerges for WrestleMania. Although the WWE most likely dominates our brains with images of jacked up men jumping off ropes and enough testosterone to fuel the resurrection of the Trojan War, don’t let your mind play tricks on you. There’s plenty of room for the ladies and they are pretty easy on the eyes. Just ask three-time WWE Diva Champion, Eve Torres. ‘LLERO had an opportunity to pick the brain of Eva the Diva on everything from why she gravitated towards the WWE, leaving the biz in her prime and where life is taking her next.

“You will always encounter challenges as a woman working in male-dominated industries,” the 28-year-old Nicaraguan and German former pro-wrestler affirms. “The biggest challenge…is earning respect. It comes down to standing your ground and letting people know you’re not an easy target, while still being likeable and respectful.”

As a former gymnast and dancer, Torres naturally gravitated toward the WWE because it had “a little of everything I was passionate about – competition, performance, traveling the world, and community service initiatives. I thought to myself ‘I just might be good at this!’” So she submitted an audition tape for WWE Diva Search competition in 2007 and won.

Humility is another trait she possesses because “good” doesn’t quite explain just how successful her career has been. In addition to becoming a three-time Diva’s Champion, Eve has appeared in WrestleMania — the annual pay-per-view event that is the most successful and longest-running professional wrestling event in history. She was also prominently featured as one of the main storylines on WWE Raw, another accomplishment that can’t be ignored. If you’re a pro-wrestler, the resume of Eve Torres is certainly one to measure up to.

GALLERY&VIDEO UPDATE: MAFB Gracie Students Graduate

Posted By Amanda • Posted on 22 Apr 2013 • 0 Comments

With a rise in sexual assault among all Air Force bases, instructors Rener Gracie and former W-W-E wrestler Eve Torres brought aid with the Women Empowered program.

The program teaches techniques using Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to get women out of real life situations.

(Anna Jung, Maintenance Officer) “I think it’s really important again to protect yourself. Especially since it is on the rise, what are you doing to be proactive about it? Are you just sitting there and saying, ‘you know if I get assaulted, I guess I get assaulted.’ No! I’m going to take classes prepare my body an be mentally ready and just prepare for any situation.”

Classes were planned to start Monday but because of weather, the instructors were not able to start until Tuesday.

To make up for lost time both teachers and students work quick and efficiently to cover all of the 15 techniques.

(Liz Corp, Tech Sgt.) “Having such good instructors for us, being able to learn. Hopefully we can be as good of instructors with the people that we’re teaching, so they can get it as quickly and as easily as we were able to.

With the 40 hour course complete, students are now certified to teach these techniques to others.

Sexual assault reports jumped up 30 percent last year through all Air Force Bases

While measures are being taken to bring that number down, Tom Hyde believes there is only one number that counts.

(Tom Hyde, B-52 Pilot) “In the Air Force, we’re not okay with just good enough. We want zero. We want zero tolerance. So really anyone we can teach to get to that level of where we are not experiencing sexual assaults is what we are looking for and the Women Empowered program is helping us do that.”

After today, the fight against sexual assault just got stronger.

At the Minot Air Force Base, Gary Brode, KX News.

WWE.com: The 50 most beautiful people in sports-entertainment history

Posted By Amanda • Posted on 11 Apr 2013 • 0 Comments

eve03

Is it any surprise that our beautiful Eve has made it on this list? Nope! Eve is one of the most beautiful females that ever stepped foot into the WWE. To what actually surprises me is that the crew at WWE.com put Eve at number one. Usually Kelly Kelly over shines Eve, or even Stacy Keibler. Oh and let’s not forgot Kaitlyn (Eve’s past rival) doesn’t even come close to where Eve is. The only females that beat our girl were; Trish and Miss Elizabeth. No surprise there. Elizabeth and Trish always well isn’t bad herself. :) Make sure you cast your vote by clicking here.

The striking Eve certainly adds credence to the old saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Sure, the 2007 Diva Search winner is a bombshell, but she is also one of the most accomplished Divas in WWE history. Eve is a three-time WWE Divas Champion, a student of the legendary Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy, a former member of the Los Angeles Clippers’ dance team and a graduate of USC with a degree in industrial and systems engineering. Make no mistake about it, Eve has the athleticism, killer body and serious smarts to put her in the running for the title of the most perfect WWE Diva. Just don’t turn your back on her. — K.P.
